What are camperships?

Camperships provide financial assistance needed for children, youth and families to experience the life-changing power of the Gospel at Forest Home. Find out more below.

Forest Home is the perfect fit: a combination of a well thought out, perfectly executed ministry — combined with true human connection and genuine relationship building.

– Chaplain Frank Fried

In 1986, Chaplain Frank Fried began bringing at-risk foster youth from Olive Crest to summer camp at Forest Home. Camperships make it possible for Olive Crest youth to attend camp, hear the Gospel and make a life-changing decision to follow Jesus — forever shaping the course of their future.

In 2012, Officer Jesse Ruiz called Forest Home to ask if funds could be provided to help bring 10 kids from Watts to summer camp. Since then, a total of 262 kids from Watts have experienced a week of camp and heard the Gospel. Next summer, the  plan is to bring 72 kids to camp — the largest group, yet! Forest Home provides specially-trained counselors to minister to these kids. Camperships make it possible for kids to learn about the Gospel and share the love of Christ with their families.

If you win over the youth and change their mindset — they’ll eventually help change the mindset of their parents.

Inner City Outreach

Neighborhood Day Camp

We have the opportunity to share the Gospel and tell kids about a God who pursues them and loves them more than they could possibly imagine.  We can partner with churches in the heart of these communities to make a lasting difference in the lives of families. This is Forest Home’s opportunity to reach God’s children beyond the mountain.

Forest Home’s Neighborhood Day Camp team hosted four week-long day camps this summer for under-served children in Watts, San Bernardino and Long Beach. From these camps, 423 kids heard the Gospel, learned about who God is, and participated in iconic Forest Home songs and games. Next summer, the goal is to expand this Inner City Outreach to partner with 10 churches in the most impoverished areas of California and beyond. With your help, we could reach 1,000 children living in the Inner City with the good news of the Gospel.
