About this retreat

Ready to slide down a snow-covered tube run? Encounter Jesus? Deepen friendships with students in your youth group?

Junior High/High School Combo Winter Camp is THE place for your 6-12th grade campers to get away from the academic and social pressures and instead focus on their identity in Christ and place in God’s family of believers. During a 3-day weekend of camp running Friday through Sunday, students will discover who God has made them to be through teaching from God’s Word, small group discussions, and relevant worship.

Of course, no Winter Camp is complete without the fun! Creative games and interactive team challenges ensure there is never a dull moment. Campers have the freedom to explore the many seasonal recreation options at Forest Home all weekend long. (Hot chocolate at Stagecoach, Zip lining through the trees, or Phase Ten by the fireplace, anyone?) Campers will enjoy living in community, making new friends, and creating memories that will give them confidence as they navigate the changes and challenges that middle school so often brings.

Dates: January 17 - January 20, 2020

He has over 13 years of full-time youth ministry experience, working with students ranging from 6th grade to young adults. Most recently, he was the Director Junior High Ministries at Forest Home, working with 2,300+ Jr Highers and counselors each summer for 4 years. He has a Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministry from Hope International University (’06) and a Master’s Degree in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (’13). Joe and his wife Rachel have been married for 12 years and have two young children, Emma and RJ. They enjoy Orange County, it’s beautiful beaches, as well as Ducks Hockey and Angels Baseball.

Worship: Aubrey Dela Cruz

Aubrey currently serves as one of Biola University’s eight worship team leaders on campus. She is passionate about youth, and has formerly lead worship with Friends Church Yorba Linda in their junior high ministry. Forest Home is near and dear to her heart. You might recognize her from Creekside, where she served as the Junior High worship dean in summer of 2018, or from leading worship at winter camp in 2019! Aubrey loves integrating liturgical rhythms and prayer practices into her worship sets because she believes in using music ministry as a means to step into an honest conversation with God. One of her favorite pass times is making new friends over a cup of coffee. If you see her around, be sure to stop her to chat. She’ll probably grab an iced daily dose along the way!
