Outdoor Adventure Camp (OAC)
In our OAC program students have the opportunity to be adventurous and explore a natural outdoor environment. This encourages students to experience God through his creation. We believe this is one-way God communicates to us – by reminding us we have a Creator.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Through OAC, students are able to learn about science concepts and encounter them in a natural setting surrounded by God’s creation. Some of the classes that have been in our previous programs include, Forest Ecology, Conservation, Native Plants & Animals, Geology, and many more.
Students have a chance to try a wide range of activities that help them to grow by overcoming obstacles, being pushed out of their comfort zones, and have an opportunity to encourage their peers when they are faced with challenges. We accomplish this through having students participate in adventure activities such as Hiking, Zip Lining, Archery, Archery Tag, Team Building, Large Group games, and rock climbing.
We also encourage students in their faith by worshiping together and providing a speaker that can help students better understand the gospel and how it applies to their lives. During our OAC program students get to hear a gospel centered message each morning and evening. Students also have solo time. Solo time gives students the opportunity to spend time in God’s creation without distraction and reflect on what God is teaching them.
