As I sit at my computer sending some emails and reflecting on how great the first week of camp was, my wife quietly grabs my attention and points to her ear. We then sit in silence as we listen to our 6 year old daughter playing. She is reciting to herself Ephesians 2:8-9. Our daughter, Avagail, attended our FYCP program this past week. Her first grade class was led by two of our great staff members, Kalied and Bloom. These two wonderful teachers showed our daughter the importance of learning and memorizing God’s Word. (And, during one of the many adventures this week, my daughter lost a shoe?! I told her leader I wasn’t surprised…)
Whenever we have families come to camp at Forest Home, their children join our Family Youth and Children’s Program (FYCP). Children are separated by age and go on adventures, make crafts, and have Bible studies. I am so grateful for the FYCP program and how it has impacted my family’s life this week. I don’t know if parents can have greater joy in this life than raising their children to be sons and daughters of God. Even now as I type, Avagail is singing worship songs at the top of her lungs. What a gift!
